After a warm welcome, we set off on an unforgettable adventure along one of the world’s most legendary coastlines - the Skeleton Coast.

Our journey begins at the Salt Pan Works, just outside Swakopmund, where we explore the breathtaking Flamingo Sanctuary. Here, you’ll discover the fascinating process of salt production, the significance of guano harvesting, and the unique ecosystem that thrives in this environment.

Next, we visit Wlotzkasbaken, a historic German coastal settlement, rich in stories and traditions that have withstood the test of time.

We then marvel at the Musical Rocks, a rare natural wonder found only in Namibia - where the stones create melodic sounds that seem to whisper the secrets of the land.

Continuing north, we arrive at Cape Cross, home to one of the world’s largest Cape fur seal colonies. Witness thousands of seals in their natural habitat, visit the historic cross left by Portuguese explorers in 1486, and uncover fascinating tales from Namibia’s past.

On our return journey, we take a moment to visit an ancient tree in the riverbed, a silent storyteller offering a profound lesson about nature’s resilience.

We then stop in Henties Bay for a quick yet refreshing lunch before making our final visits to two iconic sights:

• The haunting Zeila Shipwreck is a striking reminder of the treacherous waters of the Skeleton Coast.
• The intriguing Doughnut Rock is a geological marvel shaped by time and the elements.

We offer pickups and drop-offs at your preferred address within these two areas.

Weather

The weather along the Skeleton Coast and surrounding desert areas can vary greatly, ranging from cool coastal breezes to intense desert heat. Temperatures can range from 10°C – 40°C (50°F – 104°F), depending on the season and location. Morning fog is common along the coast, creating a mystical atmosphere, but it often clears by midday. Afternoon temperatures can get very hot, especially in the desert areas, where shade is limited. Wind conditions can vary, with cooler breezes near the coast and occasional strong desert winds. We recommend wearing light, breathable clothing for the heat, but also bringing a windproof jacket for cooler coastal conditions. A hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and plenty of water are essential, especially during stops in the desert.

What to Wear

What to Wear For your comfort and protection throughout the tour, we recommend dressing in layers to accommodate both the cooler coastal breeze and the heat of the desert. Light, breathable clothing – ideal for hot temperatures in the desert. Long-sleeve shirt and pants – to protect your skin from the sun, especially during desert stops. Windproof jacket – for cooler coastal areas and early mornings. Comfortable walking shoes or boots – perfect for walking on sandy, rocky, or uneven terrain. Hat and sunglasses – to shield your eyes and face from the sun. Sunscreen – to protect your skin, even on cloudy days. Waterproof jacket or poncho – optional, depending on the season and weather forecasts. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated during the day, especially while exploring the desert.

What to Bring To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable adventure, please bring the following essentials: Closed Shoes – Sturdy, comfortable footwear is recommended for walking on uneven terrain. Extra Water – Stay hydrated in the harsh Namibian climate. Hat or Cap – Protect yourself from the sun while exploring the open landscapes. ️ Sunglasses – Reduce glare and shield your eyes from the desert sun. Sunscreen – A high SPF sunscreen is essential for protection against the strong Namibian sun. Light Backpack – To carry your essentials, including snacks, water, and personal items. Camera or Smartphone – Capture the breathtaking scenery and unforgettable moments. Light Jacket or Windbreaker – Mornings and coastal winds can be chilly, so a light layer is recommended. To ensure your journey is as enjoyable and smooth as possible, please read through the important details below: Duration: The tour typically lasts between 6-8 hours, depending on the time spent at each stop and your pace throughout the day. Group Size: We maintain a small group size for a personalized experience: 2-8 passengers in a safari vehicle. 4 passengers in a private 4x4 vehicle, offering an even more intimate experience. Pick-up Time: You’ll be picked up directly from your accommodation in Swakopmund after breakfast, so please be ready for your adventure. Health and Safety Considerations: Masks: For your comfort and safety, masks are available in the vehicles, and we encourage their use when necessary. Hand Hygiene: Fresh water and soap are provided for handwashing to ensure hygiene throughout the tour. Hydration: Fresh drinking water will be provided during the tour, so stay hydrated in the desert heat. Physical Requirements: While the tour is moderate and designed for most guests, please note that there may be some light walking on uneven surfaces, especially during stops at Cape Cross to view the seals. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and bringing a hat and sunscreen. Weather Conditions: Cape Cross can be chilly in the morning with some wind, so we suggest dressing in layers. Even if it's warm when you leave, it’s always best to prepare for cooler conditions along the coast. Important Reminders: Seal Colony: At Cape Cross, you’ll encounter one of the largest seal colonies in the world. While this is an amazing sight, be prepared for a distinctive aroma as you get up close to the seals.
